For School Committees, School Boards, & Superintendents

The Rhode Island School Governance Alliance (RISGA), an initiative currently in development, was co-created by ElevateEd360 founder Nicole Bucka and school committee member Anne Musella to support effective and informed school committee/board membership.

Anne brings invaluable experience from her leadership in governance and policy development, while I add my expertise as a parent, educator, school board member, and national advisor.

Both Anne and I deeply understand the real-world challenges that elected officials face in navigating governance, policy, and community engagement. Drawing from our own experiences, we are designing RISGA to provide the training and resources we wish had been available during our years of service.

Research underscores the vital role that well-trained school boards play in driving student success. RISGA aspires to create a network of empowered, knowledgeable, and collaborative school boards across Rhode Island. By investing in training and engagement today, we can drive lasting change in our education system.

While RISGA is still taking shape, I currently offer related services to support school committees and boards, including:

  • Customized Training: Tailored sessions to address the unique needs of Rhode Island’s local-control governance model

  • Facilitation Services: Guided discussions to help boards align on priorities, improve cohesion, and focus on student outcomes

  • Community Engagement Support: Tools and strategies for fostering meaningful dialogue between boards and their communities
